Braking choppers

The braking chopper, also known as a brake chopper, is an essential electronic device for energy absorption and braking of electric drives. It enables the efficient conversion of braking energy into heat and thus provides safe, controlled and rapid deceleration of machines and systems. Braking choppers are used in industrial applications such as elevators, cranes, rail vehicles and wind turbines to control braking energy and accelerate deceleration. An external braking chopper significantly enhances the braking capability of a frequency inverter.
