Today, the potentials to increase energy efficiency in the industry and especially in electrical drives technology are well-known to a large circle of users, but there is still a much to be done in practice. According to field surveys about 12 percent of the motor capacity installed in the German industry is operated with energy-saving electronic speed controllers - this with a potential portion of about 50 percent! Energy efficiency and cost reduction About the hidden costs of frequency inverters
Frequency inverters are becoming increasingly important in automation engineering. Many automation tasks that were realised in the past with EC and DC motors as well as a wide range of servo motors are being taken over more and more by three-phase standard motors and frequency inverters. This configuration significantly reduces the costs of the drive components in comparison with servo drives. However, the financial gain seems to obscure possible further cost reductions on drives with frequency inverters. Studies by the drive specialist KIMO have shown that in applications with frequent drive switching there is even greater potential for savings, both for the manufacturer of the systems and for the organisation operating the systems. Speed control i.e. of fans and blowers Fan drives for buildings and industrial use
Fans and blowers are used for the widest range of applications when moving and blowing air. In addition to pure ventilation, important   applications also include the cooling of equipment and systems and the climate control both of technical or biological systems as well as warehouses, residential and recreational areas. Generally, fans and blowers operate for many hours of a year - even continually. This results in appropriately high operating costs with a relatively low capital investment costs. This means that the ifecycle costs comprise, to a large extent, the energy costs. Further, for most applications, three-phase induction motors are used for these types of drives. The speed of these drives can be adjusted in a highly fficient way - for example by using frequency inverters with the appropriate control characteristics.

MINT - Promoting Young Talents
Also in 2018 KIMO has supported a visit of pupils from the Kaiser-Heinrich-High School in Bamberg - for the 10th time now!. The students have participated in a guided tour through the exhibition, organized by the my-eFuture-initiative, and have experienced hands-on technology.
